Childrens Short Stories,
Scotty's Concern!

Highland Bulls

Childrens Short Stories, this is one of the stories where you will find one of the earlier interactions of Barnie the Owl with some of the animals around the countryside where Barnie grows up.

Children by nature, are curious and here is a story how conflicts in the animal world are settled. Sometimes, much like in the adult environment.

In this story, children will learn about Scotty, a highland cattle bull, and the concerns he has for his herd.

  • Does Barnie takes the advice and recommendations from Scotty?
  • Does he learn to apply his knowledge and reasoning?
  • Is there an apparent need for an ombudsman, a trusted individual, to take charge in keeping all animals in the immediate countryside living in harmony?
  • Although Barnie is still quite young, already a wise owl, is he listening and thinking?

The story goes on to tell of Barnie's persuasive talk to the parties involved.

  • But, does it prevent this anxiety causing incident from reoccurring in the future?
  • Is Barnie's shocked when he learns who is reporting news and events in the area?
  • Is Scotty's wisdom applied to make use of this information?
  • Do feelings of neglect and jealousy expressed by man's best friend all play a role in this story?
  • Is everything resolved to the great satisfaction of all parties?

You'll have to read the story to know the answers to these questions and more.

Scotty’s Concern is a delightful story for children to read and treasure.
