Owl News, a Description of Barnie's New Home

Owl News, The Beginning of Barnie's Adventures

This short children story tells where Barnie was born and that Barnie is an owl. A Great Horned Owl. It tells how he and his brother became orphans in a terrible storm. The first days of survival without caring parents.

The help he and his brother received from other birds. His frustration and struggle in trying to fly. His admiration for Griffin the hawk and the demonstration of the hawk’s superb flying skills is told in children stories.

His initial encounter with human beings and the incident on that fateful day he was taken from his home on the mountain. The frightening experience of having been put into a dark container and the uncertainty of not knowing what will happen.

Barnies despair of not knowing why and where he is being taken. The fright of being alone for the very first time. In this story your child will learn how Barnie begins to take care of himself.

A chance meeting of another owl many years his senior and the way this meeting came about. How this much older owl takes Barnie under his wings and alleviates his fears of the unknown.

How his newly found mentor begins teaching Barnie ‘owling’, the art of being and living like an owl. Flying and the hunt for food. The fine art of survival in his new environment.

A delightful story to introduce children to Barnie the owl and the beginning of his many adventures in and around the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
